In addition to the recently released Lync Cumulative Update 2 (earlier this month), there is another update for just the Lync Client.
You can download the update here. The corresponding knowledge base article (KB 2540951) is here.
This update brings the client version up to 4.0.7577.275 and addresses two issues:

Today Microsoft announced that Lync Server 2010 officially supports using SQL Server 2008 R2 for a back-end pool database.
Previously only SQL 2008 SP1 or 2005 SP3 were officially supported (as I recently blogged about in The Lync Server Databases blog entry).

March 12, 2012 Update: recently released Microsoft SQL 2012 is NOT supported yet with Microsoft Lync 2010.
